What a fantastic day for plane rides!
Young Eagles take to the air
On September 29, Kalkaska students and parents participated in
their second Young Eagle's Day at our local airport
located on Island Lake Road. Ten pilots from the EAA flew six
planes from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The weather was amazing but the experience was even
better! Ninety-six students from the ages of 7-17 enjoyed a
30-minute flight above Kalkaska. Many saw Torch Lake and the
Grand Traverse Bay. One of the hits was spotting our local Mc
Donald's! In addition to the students, over 30 parents were
able to hitch a ride as well.
This was the second largest Young Eagles day in the club's
history. Along with Ms. Diane Wildfong, the pilots are
already planning next years event!
We thank the Kalkaska School Board for their support.
What a tremendous experience for our community!
