Students watch American history in action

Tuesday, January 20, 2009 was a day that made news headlines across the world. The inauguration of Barack Obama, our 44th president, was a first for a variety of reasons. It also marked the first time that our fourth graders were able to watch the whole thing happen live! Thanks to modern technology, the kids were able to watch live streaming video of President Obama’s inauguration.

The teachers placed great emphasis to the students that we were watching history in the making. Classroom discussions focused on the huge impact this will have on history. Some day down the road, our kids will be able to look in history textbooks and say, “I watched that happen live!” Many of the students thought the experience was “awesome” and took away a very valuable lesson from the day; that ANYONE can grow up to become President!
