Concerned third grade students at Rapid City Elementary School read books about the plight of the polar bear. They learned that polar bears were once one of nature's hardiest survivors, however, the rising earth temperature and melting ice has had an adverse effect on their habitat and food supply. Students gathered their pocket change to successfully adopt a polar bear through the National Wildlife Federation.
