Tinkerbell Classic goes to Charity Benoit

The 10thAnnual Cherry Street Chess Club Tinkerbell Classic once again provided plenty of drama and excitement to kick off our competitive season. Eleven of the best young ladies in fourth and fifth grade battled for three weeks over five rounds to decide the championship. Charity Benoit becomes just the second person to finish the tournament undefeated (5-0) to claim top prize. Lauren Kores defeated Allison Farr in a playoff to claim second place. After the holidays CSI Chess Club will hold its Qualifying Tournament in order to determine the team that will represent KPS in the State Elementary Chess Championships February 4thin East Lansing.
