Board of Education to fill vacancy

The Board of Education has appointed Mr. William Artress to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education.
Mr. Artress has one grown son, Eric, and he and his wife Helen have two younger children who are students in the district. He is retired from the Kalkaska County Sheriff Department.
Voters will elect a candidate in November to fill out the remainder of the term.
In other business at the Feb. 6 special meeting, the Board elected Mr. Aaron Popa as vice president. Mr. John S. Rogers took over the term of president that was left vacant following the unexpected loss of Mr. James S. Peters, Jr.
