KMHC currently has openings available in their Teen Health Corner for motivated and experienced social workers to provide friendly and compassionate support services to teens and adolescents ages 5-21. As a social worker at KMHC’s Teen Health Corner, you will be responsible to provide counseling services in the school-based/school linked health center(s) or area schools to assist adolescents in defining their social, emotional, and environmental needs; and to enable them to recognize and utilize internal and external resources to meet their needs. In addition to maintaining a client caseload, the service delivery plan must be reflective of the needs of the school and may include the following components/services:
Treatment groups using evidence-based curricula and interventions
School staff training and professional development relevant to mental health
Building level promotion, such as school climate initiatives, bullying prevention and suicide prevention programs
Classroom education related to mental health topics
Case management to, and partnerships with, other private/public social service agencies
Master’s degree in social work or master’s degree with licensure as a professional counselor.
Licensed in good standing in the state of Michigan as a mental health professional.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience within the previous five (5) years working with children or adolescents and their families.
Qualified to receive third party insurance payments for mental health services.
Excellent communication and public relations skills.
Demonstrated ability to facilitate management of patients in clinical setting.

Fully licensed MSW is required. Minimum 3-5 years of experience with children/adolescents. Teen Health Corner is a child and adolescent health center which provides primary care and behavioral health services to area youth ages 5-21. The MSW will provide 1:1 counseling, small group therapy, and assist with in-school programming. Certification in play therapy is desirable.
