Emphasized skills in the cheer camp included gymnastics, stunting, jumps, precision, and
stretching, to help make the kids the best cheer team they can be.
Girls from grades six through twelve worked all of those areas with special emphasis on
the stunting and gymnastics.
Chris Cuddeback, co-owner and instructor for Water’s Edge Gymnastics, shared his knowledge, enthusiasm, and skills with the participants of the Blazer Competitive Cheer Camp held in the Middle School Gymnasium August 26th-28th.
“The girls had a fun time, made significant improvement in their skills, and worked very hard. I have seen such amazing progress in the skills of the girls over this three-day camp. I am so proud of the girls and their drive to be the best they can be. I am, also, so pleased with the tremendous progress the team members have made in gymnastics. We will have several girls with back and front walkovers, front and back handsprings, and front and back tucks this winter. That progress is huge for our program. While not every team member needs to be a gymnast in competitive cheer, there is a strong emphasis in that area in the competitions so every team member who has gymnastic skills strengthens our teams ability to compete,” stated Coach Sharon Stockford. "If we continue to improve, get the number of participants out, and work hard, we have a real shot at the conference championship title this year. All of us are so excited about this year's season."
